Hofstra Falls At CAA-Leading Drexel

Philadelphia, PA - Krista Agostinello had a goal and an assist in Hofstra's 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association loss to league-leading Drexel Thursday night at Vidas Field. The Dragons rallied from a pair of one goal deficits and scored the final two goals of the game to pick up the win.

Hofstra slipped to 6-6-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the CAA. Drexel improved to 9-1-3 overall and 4-1-0 in league action.

The Pride jumped on the scoreboard in the second minute as Dagny Run Petursdottir controlled the ball near midfield and sent a pass near the circle to Wiktoria Fronc, who one-timed a through ball to Agostinello. The graduate forward got behind the Dragons defense and went around Drexel keeper Molly Piso, who came way off her line, and sent a shot into the open net.

Drexel would tie the score in the 51st minute on Delaney Lappin's first goal of the game. However, the Pride came right back seven minutes later with Olivia Pearse working a give-and-go with Agostinello ending with Pearse burying a tough angled shot into the upper corner to put the Pride back on top, 2-1.

The Dragons answered again in the 69th minute as Lappin scored again and then scored the game-winner in the 75th minute on a goal from Isabel Kuzy on a long shot that went over a leaping Skylar Kuzmich into the upper left corner.

Piso finished with six saves in the win for Drexel. Kuzmich had two saves for the Pride.

Hofstra will wrap up a four-game road swing Sunday afternoon at Delaware. Game time is 1 p.m.
