Hempstead, NY - With the sun fading on the Hofstra Intramural Fields, freshman Zach Van Houten crossed the finish line first as the Hofstra men's cross country team placed all five runners inside the top six of the field against St. Francis Brooklyn at the Hofstra XC Invite Friday evening. It was only the second-ever Hofstra cross country meet to be held on-campus.

With all five runners finishing first through fifth in scoring, the Pride captured all 15 team points in today's race against the Terriers.

The East Meadow, New York native completed the 5K course with a time of 14:38.8 in his first race as a member of the Pride. He was followed up by fellow first-year runner Michael Silveri with a time of 15:08.9, while sophomore Aiden Willey crossed the finish line at 15:39.2. Fellow Hofstra runners Brett Shea (16:08.1) and Michael Search (16:08.8) ran neck-and-neck through the finish line in their first collegiate races.

Terell Howard was the highest-finishing runner from St. Francis Brooklyn, clocking in at 17:54.4.

Hofstra will return to action on September 18 when it hosts Saint Peter's University at 10 a.m. from the Hofstra Intramural Fields.
