Flushing Meadows, NY - Freshman Deniz Soyer dropped a 7-6(5), 5-7, 10-4 decision to Penn's Iris Gallo in the Buffalo Bracket of the Columbia Invitational. The competition was Soyer's first of her collegiate career. 

Mandisa Walle lost her consolation semifinals match to Caitie Sullivan of Columbia (6-4, 6-3) in the consolation semifinals of the Rochester Bracket..

Soyer and Walle also competed in doubles and after falling in the opening round, the duo posted a 6-4 win over Lalita Devarakonda and Amaya Lopez of St. John's in the consolation semifinals of the D Bracket. The consolation final was not contested.
