WTEN: Hofstra Falls To Towson In First Round Of CAA Championship

Williamsburg, VA - Ninth-seeded Hofstra dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 8 Towson in the first round of the 2021 CAA Women's Tennis Championship Thursday at the Millie West Tennis Facility on the campus of William & Mary.
 
Towson (7-13) advances to face top-seeded James Madison in the quarterfinals at Noon on Friday. Hofstra, which had only four healthy players all season, sees its season come to an end with a 1-6 record.
 
The Tigers clinched the doubles point with a win at the No. 1 flight as Alexa Martinez and Themis Haliou defeated the Pride's Isabella Tonuzi and Mandisa Walle, 6-0. Towson won the No. 3 doubles match by default.
 
Towson increased its advantage to 3-0 after recording victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles by default. The Tigers closed out the match when Sarah Pospischill topped Simran Desai, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 4 flight. The remaining singles matches were left unfinished.
