Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra University softball team continued Colonial Athletic Association action on Friday afternoon as the Pride defeated the Towson Tigers in a single game at the Tiger Softball Stadium, 2-1.

Hofstra improved to 7-6 on the season and 2-1 in CAA play while Towson dropped to 8-7 and 0-1 in league action.

The Pride got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first when graduate student Kristin Hallam led off with a base hit, stole second, and came around to score when junior Jaycee Ruberti hit a ground ball toward to first base.

Towson added another run in the bottom half of the inning to level the score, 1-1, but Hofstra responded in the third when sophomore Chelsea Manto hit a lead-off single through the left side, stole second, and scored on a Ruberti base hit to left field.
