MTEN: Hofstra Moves To 2-0 With Win At Loyola (MD)

Baltimore, MD - The Hofstra University men's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 5-2 victory at Loyola Tuesday afternoon at the McClure Tennis Center. The Pride won five of the six singles matches to earn the victory.

The Greyhounds took the doubles point, winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights after the Hofstra tandem of Jonathan Mahrt Guyou and Yusuke Nishitani defeated Tyler Mast and Joe Ocker, 6-2, at No. 3 to open the match.
 
Alvaro Arce Lopez-Sanchez put Hofstra on the board in singles, defeating Charlie Shanker, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 2. Julien Wolfe followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ocker at No. 6. Mahrt Guyou won at No. 4, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 over Oliver Davey to make the score 3-1 in favor of the Pride. Nishitani clinched the match at No. 5, defeating Mast by scores of 6-1 and 6-2. Shawn Jackson closed out the Hofstra victories with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 over Edik Pribitkin.

Loyola (0-4) won their lone singles match at No. 3 with Matt Cardano picking up the three-set victory.

Hofstra will be back in action Saturday at home against Fairfield with a 12 p.m. start time.
