Lawrenceville, NJ - Hofstra won four singles matches, including the match-deciding victory by
Giacomo Pezzoli at No. 4 singles as the Pride picked up a 4-3 victory over Rider Monday afternoon. Hofstra moved to 1-0 with its season-opening victory.
Pezzoli posted a 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4 win over Paul Lenz to break a 3-3 tie. The Pride had evened the score at three at the No. 6 flight as
Guido Feldberg notched a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory over Ben Tauber.
Rider (0-5) won the doubles point with victories in two of the three flights. Hofstra evened the score at one as
Alvaro Arce Lopez-Sanchez downed Peter Komosinski, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. The Broncs won the next two completed flights (1 and 4) to go up 3-1.
Yusuke Nishitani started the Pride comeback with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Ja DeJaraiz Garcia at No. 5. Feldberg followed with the win at No. 6 to set up Pezzoli's dramatic win.
Hofstra is back in action Tuesday afternoon at Loyola of Maryland.
