WREST: Hofstra Suffers Road Defeat Against Brown

Providence, RI - The Hofstra wrestling team won the first three matches of its dual meet against Brown, but would only win one of the next six matches as the Bears would come from behind to win, 20-15, over the Pride Thursday night from the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Hofstra (2-3, 1-1 EIWA) jumped out to a 12-0 lead over Brown (2-2, 1-0 EIWA) with wins at 184, 197, and 285 pounds. Charles Small won by 5-2 decision against James Araneo, while Trey Rogers scored five team points with a 25-10 tech fall win against Cade Wilson, and Zachary Knighton-Ward battled to a 13-5 major decision win over Lear Quinton.

Unfortunately, Brown would claw back with a decision win at 125 and a major decision win at 133, but Justin Hoyle gave Hofstra an additional three team points with an 11-4 decision win over Timothy Levine at 141, putting the Pride ahead by a 15-7 score. However, Brown won by major decision at 149 and earned three consecutive decision wins at 157, 165 and 174 pounds to score 13 unanswered points to topple Hofstra.

The Pride will return to competition at the Journeymen Collegiate Wrestling Duals from Fort Walton Beach, Florida on December 20-21. The Pride will start the competition off against No.8 Virginia Tech at 10 a.m. and No. 6 Arizona State at 12 p.m. Hofstra will then face one of No. 2 Penn State, No. 11 Cornell, or No. 21 Northern Iowa on December 21. All of Hofstra's matches at the Journeymen Collegiate Wrestling Duals can be watched live, with a subscription and pay-per-view fee, to Rokfin.

NOTES:
-Hofstra is now 4-11 all-time against Brown.
-Trey Rogers is now two wins away from 50 career wins. Tonight's win by tech fall was the fourth of his career.
-Rogers and Charles Small are now both on four-match winning streaks.
