Wilmington, DE -
Jun Sasagawa won his eighth consecutive dual meet singles match but it wasn't enough as Hofstra fell to Delaware, 4-1, in a Colonial Athletic Association match at the Delcastle Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
Hofstra lost for the second straight match and slipped to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in the CAA. Delaware moved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the CAA with its ninth consecutive victory.Â
After claiming the doubles point, the Blue Hens got wins at the top two singles flights to take a 3-0 lead. Sasagawa put Hofstra on the board with a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3) win over Gui Valdoleiros at No. 3. But that was the only point the Pride would get as the Hens clinched the match with a win at No. 5. The remaining two singles flights were left unfinished.Â
Hofstra returns to action next Saturday, March 7, at Colgate.Â
