Bethpage, NY - Hofstra won a pair of singles flights but lost a pair of togh three-set singles matches as UNCW came away with a 5-2 victory late Friday night at Sportime. 

Hofstra suffered its first loss of the season and  moved to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the CAA. UNCW is 2-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.

UNCW took the doubles point with a pair of 6-0 victories at the first and third flights. The Pride did win at No. 2 as Jasmine King and April Sanchez defeated Celeste Matute and Anna Daniels, 7-6.

The Pride picked up singles wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights. Katherine Kachkarov won at No. 2, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, over Matute. Sanchez won in straight sets over Sarah Horn at N0. 3, 6-2, 6-1. However, the Seahawks picked up wins at the other flights including Rachel Marthinsen rallying to defeat Jasmine King, 5-7, 7-6, 6-4, at No. 1 to clinch the victory.
 
Hofstra returns to action Saturday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. versus Fairleigh Dickinson. The match will take place at Sportime.
