Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Tennis Coach announced the signing of Abigail Higgins to a National Letter of Intent. Higgins will join the Pride women's tennis team in the fall of 2021.
A native of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, Higgins attends Florida Virtual School in Sarasota, Florida, and trains at the Celsius Tennis Academy in Sarasota as well.
"I am very excited to add Abigail to our team next year," said Pasion. "She is an extremely talented player and I look forward to having the opportunity to coach her next season."
Ranked as high as 12th in the Middle States Tennis Section, she also was ranked as the 18th best player in New Jersey in the Babolat Rankings on TennisRecruiting.net., which listed her as a three-star recruit.
During her tenure at Celsius Tennis Academy, Higgins has been a two-time Most Valuable Player of the varsity team under Coach Kathy Rosenberg. As a sophomore in 2019, she helped the team to a district championship, won a district championship in doubles play, and advanced to the Florida state semifinals in doubles. Higgins has also been a four-time USTA Zonal Team selection.
Higgins, who plans to major in education at Hofstra, holds a 3.9 grade point average. She was the varsity scholar-athlete as a sophomore and picked up the USTA Middle States Outstanding Sportsmanship Award as a freshman in 2018.
