Hempstead, NY – Hofstra and Bloomsburg each won five weight classes and were tied, 19-19, after the final match of the day, but the Huskies earned a 20-19 victory via tiebreaker Sunday at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Bloomsburg won on the third tiebreaker (most points scored in decisions, major decisions, and technical falls), 45-40, to earn the bonus point.
Hofstra slipped to 1-4 on the season with the loss while Bloomsburg moved to 2-3 with its second consecutive win.
The Pride took a 19-16 lead by winning consecutive matches at 285 and 125.
Zachary Knighton-Ward picked up an 8-4 decision over Jarrett Walters to tie the score at 16 and
Dylan Ryder followed with a 4-2 win over Christian Gannone. But Bloomsburg's Shawn Orem picked up an 8-4 decision over the Pride's
Garrett Lambert at 133 in the final weight class of the dual.
The Pride continues a nine-match home stand this Saturday, January 11, at 4 p.m. versus The Citadel.
