Hempstead, NY - Zachary Knighton-Ward scored a decision win at 285 pounds for Hofstra's lone weight class win of the evening as No. 5 North Carolina State took a 37-2 victory Saturday at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

Hofstra slipped to 3-5 with the loss and saw its two-match win streak halted. The Wolfpack moved to 10-0 on the season with the victory.
Knighton-Ward, wrestling against Deonte Wilson in the final match of the night, notched a 6-5 decision to put Hofstra on the board. The Pride's red-shirt sophomore scored a late takedown to go up in the match and then held off Wilson for his 12th victory of the year.

Hofstra lost close decisions at 125 pounds, 141 pounds, 149 pounds and 197 pounds. Dylan Ryder lost, 8-5, against Jakob Camacho at 125. Vinny Vespa fell, 4-2, to Alex Urquiza at 141, Reece Heller rallied after a slow start and dropped an 11-8 decision to Matt Grippi at 149. Trey Rogers battled 11th-ranked Nick Reenan at 197 before falling, 7-3.

The Wolfpack, which had four ranked wrestlers in their lineup, received a win by fall from #2 Hayden Hidlay at 157 over Holden Heller, a win by fall at 174 from #18 Daniel Bullard over Sage Heller, and a major decision from #3 Trent Hidlay over Charles Small at 184.

Hofstra will return to action next Sunday, January 26, against Long Island University. Match time at the Mack Sports Complex is 2 p.m.
