BRONX, N.Y. – The Fordham softball team defeated Hofstra, 16-2, in five innings Wednesday afternoon at the Bahoshy Softball Complex. Hofstra dropped to 18-21 on the year while Fordham improved to 19-20.
Fordham scored the first run of the game in their first at bats, before Hofstra took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second when freshman
Meghan Giordano drilled a double to left field, scoring freshman

Jaycee Ruberti.
Fordham took full control in the bottom of the second, plating 12 runs, 11 of which were unearned to put Hofstra at an 11-run deficit. The Rams went on to score one more in the third and two more in the fourth while Hofstra was blanked the remainder of the way.
Giordano finished her day 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI, while junior
Kristin Hallam, Ruberti, junior
Alexis Goeke and freshman Skylar Cirillo each tallied base hits for Hofstra.
Freshman
Mackenzie Suto (6-10) took the loss for the Pride, allowing just two earned runs while striking out one.
Hofstra looks to bounce back this weekend for a crucial Colonial Athletic Association series against Towson. First pitch for a doubleheader at Bill Edwards Stadium on Saturday is at 4 p.m., while the single game will follow on Sunday at 12 p.m.
NOTES:
-Hofstra now leads the all-time series against Fordham, 10-6
-Hallam now has 24 stolen bases on the season which is third all-time in a single season at Hofstra
-Cirillo recorded her first career hit
