Ricky Stamm and
Trey Rogers each picked up wins for Hofstra but George Mason won the seven other weight classes, including two in sudden victory, to post a 28-9 victory Friday night at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
Hofstra fell to 6-14 with the loss while George Mason improved to 9-7 on the year.
The match started with a Hofstra forfeit at 125 and the Patriots upped their lead to 12-0 at 133 pounds when Talha Farooq scored a win by fall with 39 seconds remaining over the Pride's
Jacob Martin. Martin was on his way to a major decision before the takedown and fall.
Lambert put Hofstra on the board at 141 with a 10-5 decision over Julio Alegria. The Patriots picked up wins in the next three weights including a 8-6, sudden victory decision by Colston DiBlasi at 165 over
Chris Mauriello that gave the visitors a commanding 21-3 lead.
Stamm downed Neil Schuster, 6-3, at 174, and Rogers followed with a 3-1 victory at 184 over Paul Pierce to give the Pride their final six points of the match. George Mason closed out the night with a sudden victory win at 197 and a major decision at 285.
Hofstra will return to action March 8-9 at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships at Binghamton.
