Bethpage, NY - The Hofstra University Men's Tennis team won its second consecutive match Sunday with a 5-2 victory over Colgate Sunday at Sportime. The Pride improved to 5-2 on the season while Colgate is 3-4.
Hofstra won four singles flights and swept doubles in the win.
Marcus Smith rallied from a set down to defeat Scott Bickel at No. 1, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Shawn Jackson had a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Noah Rosenblat at No. 2 and
Coco Haener defeated Alec Dardis, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3.
Jan Leithner posted a an 8-5 win over Kun Tan at No. 6 after the match had been clinched.
Ryan Hardin and
Giacomo Pezzoli bested Rosenblat and Tyler Krantz at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, to open the match. Haener and Jackson followed with a point-clinching win at No. 2, 6-2, over Bickel and Rohan Gupta. Smith and Leithner closed out the sweep at No. 3 with a 6-3 win over Peter Hartman and Dardis.
The Pride returns to action Friday night at Fordham. Match time is 7 p.m.
