Nezar Haddad each picked up wins by decision, but Brown won the other six weight classes to pick up a 24-12 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association win over Hofstra Saturday afternoon.
Hofstra fell to 6-12 on the season and 2-6 in the EIWA with the loss. Brown is now 6-6 overall and 4-5 in conference duals.
The Bears jumped out to a 6-0 lead after wins from No. 31 Ian Butterbrodt (285) and Trey Keeley (125). Butterbrodt used an escape and riding time to pick up the 2-0 win over
Omar Haddad. Keeley rallied from 6-3 down and used a third period takedown to score the 7-6 win over the Pride's Dylan Rider. Martin used four takedowns and a riding time point to notch the 9-4 win at 133 pounds and put the Pride on the board. A forfeit win at 141 for Brown made it 12-3 before Heller scored an 11-4 win over Jack Bokina at 149 to make it 12-6. But the Bears picked up wins in the next two classes, including a win by fall at 165 by 17th-ranked Jonathan Viruet to take a commanding 21-6 lead.
Stamm picked up a 12-5 victory at 174 to make it 21-9 and
Nezar Haddad edged Tucker Ziegler at 197, 3-2, to close out the match.
Hofstra will be back in action later this evening when it wrestles at Harvard at 6 p.m.
