Danny Poma, a two-year member of the baseball team (2011 and 2012) was a First Team All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper as a senior. He was also the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year after leading the Pride to a school record 34 wins and a berth in the CAA Championship for the first time in seven years.

Poma put together one of the top seasons in school history in 2012 as he batted .430 with 102 hits, 78 runs, 32 doubles, seven home runs, 48 RBIs and 29 steals. He led the nation in doubles and runs, was second in batting, and third in hits. His 102 hits, 32 doubles, and 78 runs were all Hofstra records. In his two years Poma played in 103 games and holds a .410 career average with 170 hits, 48 doubles, 116 runs, 76 RBIs and 49 stolen bases. He ranks third all-time at Hofstra in doubles and stolen bases.

A two-time First Team All-CAA selection, Poma was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy. He also earned American Baseball Coaches Association All-East Region honors twice and was the ECAC Player of the Year in 2012. The Howdy Myers Award winner as Hofstra's Male Athlete of the Year as a senior, Poma was selected in the 10th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Monterey, California, native graduated from Hofstra with a degree in speech communication and rhetorical studies.
