Hempstead, N.Y. – The Hofstra Softball team will open its Colonial Athletic Association schedule this weekend with a three-game series against UNCW. As a result of this week's snow fall, all games will be played at Fordham's Bahoshy Field, beginning with a single game on Saturday at 11 a.m. and followed by a doubleheader on Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Pride (14-7) went 4-0 at the St. John's Invitational last weekend, beating Boston University, Massachusetts, the host Red Storm and Binghamton, outscoring its opponents, 28-9, as the Hofstra offense exploded. Head Coach
Larissa Anderson picked up her 100th career victory with a 7-2 win over BU on Saturday.
Sophomore
Kristin Hallam led the charge at the plate, hitting .727 and reaching base 12 consecutive times, finishing the weekend with a home run, two doubles, four runs, four RBIs, two stolen bases and three walks, earning CAA Player of the Week honors for her efforts.
Senior
Brielle Pietrafesa was also impressive last weekend, recording seven hits, including three home runs, and posting nine RBIs. Classmates
Brittany Allocca and
Megan Patierno each added a home run and a double, with Allocca finishing the weekend with five hits and four RBIs and Patierno chipping in four hits and five RBIs.
Pitchers
Sarah Cornell and
Sophie Dandola each picked up a pair of wins in the circle, with Cornell striking out nine in a 2-0 shutout of Massachusetts on Saturday.
The Seahawks have gone 7-14 in non-conference play, picking up a pair of wins over Radford, as well as victories against Maine, Longwood, Western Illinois, North Carolina A&T and Sacred Heart.
Kelsey Bryan leads the team at the plate with a .328 average, while Lacey Fox boats a team-best nine RBIs. Sarah Davis (2-6) and Rylee Pate (2-4) have seen the most work in the circle, with Davis holding a 3.37 ERA and Pate recording a 3.61 ERA.
Hofstra swept the season series in 2017 at UNCW and beat the Seahawks, 9-6, in the semifinals of the CAA Championship.
