WTEN: Hofstra Rallies To Win Spring Opener

Box Score Bethpage, NY - Hofstra rallied from a 3-1 deficit, winning the final three singles matches to pick up a 4-3 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday night at Sportime in Bethpage, New York. Hofstra improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.

After FDU (0-2) earned the doubles point, the pride evened the match with a default win at No. 6 singles. The Knights then picked up singles victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights to take a 3-1 lead. Michal Kaplan started the Hofstra comeback with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Patricia Eftenoiu at No. 3 singles. Alejandra Ruffini followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Liza Rachenko at No. 4. With the outcome riding on the fifth singles flight, Hofstra's Disha Yellayi prevailed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Anamaria Vladescu.

Hofstra is back in action next Saturday when it hosts Buffalo at Point Set Racquet Club in Oceanside. Match time is 11 a.m.
