Princeton, NJ - The Hofstra Wrestling team kicked off the 2018-19 season Sunday at the Princeton Open at Jadwin Gymnasium.
Fifteen Pride wrestlers, including eight who wrestled attached to Hofstra, competed in the tournament. Freshman
Dylan Ryder, who was wrestling unattached, placed seventh at 125 pounds with a 3-2 record. Six more Pride grapplers posted .500 record as redshirt freshman
Trent Olson at 133, redshirt sophomore
Ricky Stamm at 165, freshman
Trey Rogers at 184, redshirt senior
Nezar Haddad at 197 and sophomore
Zachary Knighton-Ward at 285 each recorded 2-2 records. Redshirt junior
Omar Haddad was 1-1 at 285.
Three Hofstra wrestlers, redshirt sophomore
Chris Mauriello at 157, junior
Sage Heller at 174 and senior
Michael Oxley at 184, each went 1-2 at Princeton. Freshman Matt Templeton (0-2) and junior
Jacob Martin (0-1) at 125, redshirt sophomore
Garrett Lambert (0-2) at 141, freshman
Corey Langner (0-2) at 174 and classmate
Reggie Poulin (0-2) at 285 each went winless.
There was no team scoring in the tournament.
Hofstra will return to action next Sunday, November 11 when the Pride travel to the Capital District for the Journeymen Northeast Collegiate Classic in Albany, New York. The tournament begins at 9 a.m.
