Salinas, CA - Wisconsin scored two goals in the first half and added four in the second, and used a solid defensive effort to keep Hofstra at bay as the No. 23 Badgers advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship with a 6-0 victory over the Pride Friday night at Rabobank Stadium.
Hofstra sees its season end with a 16-6-1 record while Wisconsin improved to 14-3-4. The loss snapped a season-best seven-game winning and eight-game unbeaten streak for the Pride. Â
The Badgers didn't waste a lot of time as they earned a corner kick and converted on the set piece with Alexis Tye heading in Claire Shea's kick at the 1:12 mark. The Pride had a great chance in the 11th minute as
Lucy Porter's pass sprung
Miri Taylor but her shot was punched just over the crossbar by Wisconsin keeper Jordyn Bloomer.
Wisconsin went up by a 2-0 score at the 22:04 mark as Dani Rhodes shot from just outside the 18-yard box got past a charging
Ashley Wilson, who came out to challenge for the ball. That closed out the first half scoring though Hofstra, and Taylor, had another opportunity denied as Bloomer dove back to corral a ball after a shot from Taylor was partially saved and was spinning toward the goal line.
Rhodes scored three more goals in the second half with Cameron Murtha adding the Badgers fourth tally.

Wilson made five saves in goal for the Pride, while Bloomer had six stops for the Badgers.
