WSOC: Hofstra Salvages Draw Versus William & Mary

Hempstead, NY – Miri Taylor's goal in the 87th minute salvaged a 1-1 tie for Hofstra in a Colonial Athletic Association game against William & Mary at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. 
 
Hofstra moved to 9-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the CAA. The Tribe moves to 5-7-1 and 2-2-1 in league action.
 
The Pride had numerous chances in the game, outshooting the Tribe, 37-13. Hofstra had 17 shots on goal but William & Mary keeper Katelyn Briguglio made a career-high 16 saves. Hofstra also hit the post on one other good scoring attempt. 
 
William & Mary got on the board first when Sarah Segan chipped a shot over Hofstra keeper Jenna Borresen, who had come off her line in an attempt to play the ball, 2:50 into the second half. Segan had the same chance in the first half but her shot bounced over the crossbar.
 
Taylor knotted the score late in the game, working  a give-and-go with Sabrina Bryan and sliding a shot past Briguglio into the far corner. The Pride had two chances in the second overtime, but Briguglio had two saves. The Tribe had a chance in the first overtime, but Borresen came up with the save. The red-shirt senior finished with six saves on the day.
 
Hofstra is back in action Thursday night (6 p.m.) at Drexel.
 
Notes:
-Hofstra's 37 shots were a season high and the most since the Pride took 35 against Albany on Sept. 14, 2012.
-Hofstra had 11 corner kicks.
-Hofstra is now 8-11-3 all-time versus William & Mary.
-Taylor's goal was her third in the last four games.
