SB: Hofstra Heads To Fordham For Single Game

Bronx, N.Y. – Winter weather has changed Hofstra Softball's matchup with Fordham into a road game, as the Pride heads to Bahoshy Softball Complex for a 2 p.m. game on Tuesday. The game will be available via live stats, video and audio from Fordham.

Hofstra (8-10) last played on March 12, with weather cancelling the St. John's Invitational that had been scheduled for this weekend. The Pride went 1-4 in the Oregon Duck Invitational the last time out, splitting a pair of games with Pacific, falling twice to No. 4 Oregon and dropping a game to Idaho State. Freshman Sarah Cornell got the starting nod in four games that weekend, pitching a shutout in the Pride's 2-0 win over Pacific. Junior Brittany Allocca and senior Lacey Clark each had a pair of RBIs on the weekend, with Allocca hitting her second home run of the season in tight 3-2 loss to Idaho State.

The Pride holds a 9-4 advantage in the all-time series with Fordham. Last season, the Rams took an 12-11 win in a high-scoring affair in the Bronx. Fordham is off to a hot start this season, coming into Tuesday's matchup at 20-6, including a win over nationally ranked Baylor in the season opener.

Jessica Hughes, Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, leads the Rams with a .469 batting average, while Madison Shaw has recorded a team-best 31 RBIs to go along with a .403 average. Lauren Quense, who also earned Atlantic 10 weekly honors as Pitcher of the Week, has seen the most work in the circle, posting a 1.89 ERA and 13-3 record while striking out 61 in 96.1 innings pitched.

After the matchup with Fordham, the Pride will open its home slate and conference schedule simultaneously, hosting reigning Colonial Athletic Association champion James Madison for a three-game series on March 25 and 26.
