Bethpage, NY - Hofstra rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the match, but Siena won the decisive singles match in a 4-3 win over Hofstra Saturday at Sportime. Hofstra fell to 3-4 on the season, while Siena remained undefeated at 7-0.
Siena started by winning at one and two doubles to pick up the doubles point. Ali Garrity and Mitsuki Fukamachi won 6-3 at first doubles over
D'Asha Davis and
Carmen Pestano. Ivana Boberic and Natalie Weaver followed with a 6-2 win over
Sarah Catherine Herndon and
Jasmine King at the second flight.
Giulia Leone and
Disha Yellayi defeated Anessa Leyva and Juliana Goehner, 6-4, at the third flight.
Siena won the first two completed singles flights as Boberic defeated Davis, 6-1, 6-3, at second singles followed by Fukamachi taking a 6-2, 6-3 win over Herndon  at No. 3 to give the Saints a 3-0 lead.
Hofstra then rallied to even the match at 3-3 as King posted a win over Garrity (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) at first singles; Pestano defeated Weaver, 6-3, 6-0, at fourth singles and Yellayi downed Leyva, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 5.
But Goehner won, 7-5, 6-3, at the sixth flight over Leone to give the Saints the 4-3 victory.
