Hempstead, N.Y. – Freshman Lucy Porter scored the game's lone goal as the Hofstra Women's Soccer team topped William & Mary, 1-0, in the CAA semifinal on Friday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium to advance to the CAA Championship.
The Pride (14-3-2, 9-0 CAA) extended its win streak to 11 games and pushed its unbeaten run to 13. William & Mary finished its season at 8-10-2.
Hofstra dominated possession throughout the game, outshooting the Tribe, 18-4. After a number of close chances that came up empty in the first half, Porter broke through in the 63rd minute. Junior Monique Iannella sent in a corner kick that classmate
Madeline Anderson headed on goal, but a William & Mary defender made a safe on the goal line. Porter then tapped in the rebound to earn the Pride the win.
Junior Jenn Buoncore led all players with four shots, including a chance in the second half that nearly made it 2-0, sailing just high of the left corner.
Hofstra will face No. 3 seed Northeastern in the title game on Sunday. The Pride returns to the championship for the first time since 2014, when it also squared off with Northeastern.
Notes:
-The Pride is now 7-1-1 at home this season.
-The clean sheet was Hofstra's 11th shutout of the season, just one off the school record.

Jenna Borresen made one for the Pride.
-Porter's goal was her third of the season.
-Iannella now leads the team with five assists.
