WTEN: Hofstra's Run At ITA Northeast Regional Comes To An End

Philadelphia, PA - Hofstra's run at the 2017 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional came to an end today as Michal Kaplan and Alejandra Ruffini each lost their second round singles matches.

Kaplan dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Boston College's Asiya Dain. Dain, who is a WTA-ranked player, was seeded in the 3-4 block. Kaplan held a lead in the second set, but was unable to hold off Dain's comeback.

Ruffini came out on the short end of a 6-3, 6-4 score against Columbia's Jennifer Kerr, who was seeded in the 17-32 block. Ruffini held a 3-1 lead in the second set before Kerr rallied for the win. The freshman did win three matches at the regional, including two qualifying contests to get into the main draw.

The ITA Northeast Regional was the final competition of the fall season for the Pride.
