Philadelphia, PA - Freshman Alejandra Ruffini won a pair of qualifying singles matches to advance to the main draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional at the University of Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon.

Ruffini defeated Fairleigh Dickinson's Anamaria Vladescu in the first round, 6-1 and 6-4. She then downed Quinnipiac's Dominique Vasile in the second round with one of the eight qualifying spots at stake. The Milan, Italy, native came through with a 6-4, 6-3 win to move on to the main draw, which starts play Thursday.

Ruffini has won seven matches in a row after her two wins today and is 10-3 on the season.
