Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Director of Men's Basketball Operations
Colin Curtin and Overseas Elite will face Team Colorado in the championship game of The Basketball Tournament on Tuesday evening.
Tonight's title tilt will be played at Fordham's Rose Hill Gymnasium and air nationally on ESPN at 7 p.m. The victorious squad will earn the two-million dollar payday.
Curtin serves as coach of the Overseas Elite team.
Overseas Elite, winners of TBT's $1 Million prize in 2015, was constructed by Andrew Morrison and coached by Curtin.
They advanced to the championship game with wins over Showtime (round 1), HBC (round 2), Ram Nation (super 16), Trained to Go (regional championship) and City of Gods (semifinals).
In the semifinals, Overseas Elite defeated City of Gods for the second year in a row in a matchup that lived up to the advanced billing. Kyle Fogg led the way for the defending champs with 42 points on 12-16 shooting, including 7-8 from 3 as Overseas Elite moved one win away from going back to back in TBT. The game was tied at the half, but Overseas Elite's transition defense and Fogg's lights out shooting resulted in a 42-12 run, which proved to be too much for City of Gods. Despite a furious comeback late in the game that cut the lead to 7 points with under 2 minutes to play and 22 points from Lasan Kromah, City of Gods fell short again.
Curtin is entering his fourth season on the Hofstra Men's Basketball staff.
Curtin serves as the director of men's basketball operations after serving in a similar role at Niagara since 2009.
Curtin assists in various elements of the Pride program including team travel, scheduling and various other administrative duties. He also serves as director of the Hofstra Basketball Summer Camps.
A 2009 graduate of Niagara with a degree in sports management, Curtin was a team manager with the Purple Eagles during his undergraduate tenure. He was part of two postseason teams, including the 2007 NCAA Tournament squad and assisted the staff with a multitude of tasks.
