Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Associate Director of Athletics for NCAA Education and Compliance Services Ariel Pesante has been selected to participate in the 2015 NCAA Leadership Institute.
"We were excited to nominate AP for participation in the NCAA Leadership Institute and very proud that he is one of sixteen administrators selected from a national pool of candidates for this year's class," commented Hathaway. "We emphasize the professional development of our staff so that we may better serve our student-athletes and the University. We want our staff to consistently develop their skill sets while learning and implementing the new and most innovative best practices in college athletics. Congratulations to AP and we know that his experiences at the NCAA Leadership Institute will be of great benefit to our athletic program and Hofstra University."
The 2015 Institute will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from July 11 to 17.
The Leadership Institute provides tailored programming to assist racial and ethnic minorities in strategically mapping and planning their careers in athletics administration by providing professional development programming over the course of a calendar year, which includes two, one-week programs conducted in July. Combining the in-person sessions, continuing education activities throughout the year and the alumni interaction, participants map out future career goals and paths.
Pesante was one of 16 people selected to participate in the Leadership Institute.
The program is administered by the NCAA Leadership Development Department, which sits in the Education and Community Engagement (ECE) Group at the NCAA. Dr. Bernard Franklin, Executive Vice President and Chief Inclusion Officer at the NCAA oversees the ECE Group.
