Williamsburg, Va. – Clara Logsdon scored a first-half goal and three William & Mary players added second-half scores as Hofstra fell to the Tribe, 4-0, in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup on Sunday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium.
The Tribe scored three goals in less than 20 minutes in the second half to pull away. Hofstra split a season-opening conference road trip and is 1-1 in CAA play and 6-5 overall. William & Mary improved to 7-2-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Senior forward Amber Stobbs paced Hofstra with a team-high three shots, nearly matching the rest of the team. Junior forward Leah Galton played all 90 minutes and also logged two shots. Caroline Casey made two saves and Samantha Johnson played the final 6:34 as the two goalkeepers combined on the shutout.
Logsdon scored off a corner kick in the 35th minute, finishing to the top right-side as Nicole Baxter picked up the first of her two assists. Galton's on-target shot was saved by Casey in the 41st minute, allowing the Tribe to head into halftime with a one-goal lead.
Samantha Cordum netted her sixth goal of the season in the 64th minute when she took Baxter's outlet pass and lobbed a shot over Hofstra sophomore goalkeeper Friederike Mehring from 25 yards out. Just 2:55 later, Anna Madden linked with Cordum for her second goal of the season and a 3-0 lead. Cordum pushed the ball to Madden, who scored on a head-on shot from eight yards out.
Camper added an insurance marker in the 84th minute with her four goal. Adrienne Maday looped a pass to Camper, who scored from the left side. Casey improved to 7-2-1 on the season for the Tribe.
Mehring, her counterpart, made three saves. Hofstra will continue CAA play on Friday when the Pride hosts JMU at 7 p.m. from Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
