Hempstead, NY - Following another successful year in the Hofstra University Office of Athletic Communications (OAC), the office received recognition from a pair of organizations highlighting the strong work being produced by the OAC.
The OAC, which oversees all public relations, social media, video streaming, statistics and publications for the Department of Athletics, consists of Associate Director of Athletics for Communications Stephen Gorchov, Director of Athletic Publications Len Skoros, Senior Sports Information Director Jim Sheehan and Senior Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Brian Bohl.
“We are very fortunate at Hofstra to have an athletic program filled with quality people that are also outstanding professionals,” commented Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway. “Our Office of Athletic Communications is a prime example of the quality of our staff. These awards are well-deserved and shared by all in that office.”
The first award came from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as that organization announced that Hofstra's 2014 Men's Lacrosse Media Guide was named the “Second In The Nation” in the “Spring At-Large Guides – University Division” category. That category includes guides from the following sports: men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, women's golf, men's golf, women's tennis, men's tennis, women's track and men's track.
The 114-page guide was designed with the assistance of David G. Lowry Grafix. The University of Kansas' track guide was named the best in the nation in that category.
Hofstra's 2012-13 Hofstra Athletics Annual Report earned “Honorable Mention” recognition in the category of “Best Annual Report” from Ragan Communications' PR Daily Awards. The 28-page publication was designed with the assistance of David G. Lowry Grafix and printed by Franklin Graphics of Nashville, Tennessee. The Tiger Woods Foundation's 2012 Annual Report was the winner in the category.
