West Long Branch, NJ - The Hofstra Women's Tennis team won its sixth straight match, 7-0, over Monmouth Saturday afternoon.
The Pride won all six singles matches and the doubles point in improving to 8-7 on the year. Monmouth dropped to 4-13 on the season.
The doubles team of Sarah Bowen and Carmen Pestano posted an 8-0 win at first doubles over Brooke Verdiglione and Farrah Smoke. Bianca Derrick and Louise Lopez won 8-2 at second doubles over Ashley Sandler and Chioma Gabriel. Giulia Leone and Bianca Posa defeated Sarah Turner and Kendal Kauffman, 8-1, at third doubles.
The Pride swept through singles play in straight sets. Bowen defeated Verdiglione, 6-2, 6-2 at first singles. Lopez followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sandler at second singles. Pestano won by the same score over Smoke at third singles. Leone downed Kauffman, 7-5, 6-0 at fourth singles. Derrick shutout Gabriel, 6-0, 6-0 at fifth single. Posa closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Robyn Belen.
The match was Hofstra's last before beginning play at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on April 17 against an opponent to be determined.
