Hannah Klemm had 35 assists and six digs, while senior outside hitter
Kelsie Wills posted a match-high 14 kills to lead the Hofstra Volleyball team to its third straight victory to open the 2014 season.
Hofstra won the match in straight sets (25-21, 25-13 and 25-17) to improve to 3-0; its third straight 3-0 start to a season. Quinnipiac falls to 1-1 this year.
Senior outside hitter
Emily Burke had a stellar match for the Pride with nine kills and a .538 hitting percentage to assist in the Hofstra victory. She also added three blocks to tie senior middle blocker
Nuria Lopes da Silva, Wills and senior middle blocker
Adama Aja for team-high honors.
Hofstra broke open a tight first set to eventually capture a 25-21 win. The defense was especially strong early on as the Pride held the Bobcats to a negative .111 attack percentage in the opening stanza.
The Pride would manage to improve offensively in the final two sets, while continuing their strong defense. Hofstra hit at least .333 in both the second and third stanza, while holding Quinnipiac below a .140 attack percentage in both sets.
Sophomore libero
Sophia Black led Hofstra with 10 digs and overall the Pride held Quinnipiac to a .014 attack percentage.
Katie Urycki led the Bobcats with eight kills, while Emma Ogden had eight assists and Cody Michaels picked up eight digs.
Hofstra returns to action tonight when they close play at the Hofstra Asics Invitational with a 7:30 p.m. match against Santa Clara.
