Hempstead, NY - Hofstra won all six single matches, including five in straight sets, and took two of three doubles matches to roll to a 7-0 victory over Manhattan Sunday afternoon at the Hofstra Tennis Center. The Pride improve to 1-0, while Manhattan drops to 3-3.

Hofstra claimed the doubles point as the team of Elena Ivanova and Brooke Sailer posted an 8-0 win over Lilly Johnson and Christine Puleo, and Malissa Gilanchi and Sonia Tsay defeated Hilary Valenzuela and Stephanie Tsao (8-3).

In singles action Ivanova improved to 9-0 on the season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Johnson. Ivanova has not droipped a set in any of her nine matches this year. Christie Gattelaro won at #2 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Valenzuela. Tsay defeated Christina Ton, 6-1, 6-0, at #3 singles, while Gilanchi had a 6-0, 6-1 win over Puleo at #4 singles.

The most hotly contested matchup of the day came at #5 singles as Paige Polizois defeated Brianna Turano, 6-1, 4-6, 10-3. Laura Newman closed out the match at #6 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Megan Maffei.

Hofstra returns to action on October 16 at Rhode Island. Match time is 1 p.m.
