PRIDE IMPROVES TO 6-1 WITH THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY

10/26/2008 8:00:00 PM

After falling behind 1-0 in the match against George Mason, the Hofstra Women's Tennis team won five of the six singles contests to defeat the Patriots, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon in Fairfax, Virginia.

The match was the Pride's final one during their fall schedule and Hofstra finishes it with a 6-1 record.  Hofstra returns to action in the spring when they travel to Bucknell on February 21 for a noon match against the Bison.

Hofstra dropped all three doubles matches against the Patriots and would need to rally in the match to win the contest against their conference rivals.  The outcome was never really in doubt, though, as the Pride's five singles wins all came in straight sets.  In total Hofstra dropped just 14 games in its five victories, led by a 6-0, 6-1 win from Zoe Taylor at first singles and a 6-2, 6-0 victory from Brooke Sailer at sixth singles.
