On October 19 at Jones Beach State Park, the Hofstra Softball and Women's Lacrosse teams participated in the 2008 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.  The five-mile walk helped to raise funds to fight breast cancer and also provided inspiration to people who are fighting this disease or who have gone through it.

The teams raised $360 to support the American Cancer Society, and in total the day has raised three million dollars to date.

In addition, at tomorrow's football game versus Delaware (3 p.m. - James M. Shuart Stadium), Hofstra's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will assist in raising more funds by selling specially designed Hofstra Pride t-shirts.  One dollar per ticket of game day sales as well as 100% of the revenue generated from the sale of the t-shirts will support the American Cancer Society.
