On Jan. 2, 2000 the Hofstra basketball programs moved into the then-5,023-seat Hofstra Arena, which was renamed the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex in 2006. Construction of the $15 million, 93,000 square-foot facility began in the fall of 1998 and was completed in December 1999. The Complex houses the Hofstra men's and women's basketball teams and select wrestling matches, and also hosts commencements, exhibitions, trade shows, and other special events.
The Mack Sports Complex, which now seats nearly 3,800 spectators, includes full chair back seating for spectators in an arena configuration. The air-conditioned facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art video board and sound system, men's and women's locker rooms, a training room, a large weight room, dressing rooms for stage events, concession stands, multiple ticket windows, six luxury suites, and offices for Hofstra's athletic administration and basketball staffs.Â
Hofstra and the Mack Sports Complex has hosted three Presidential Debates in its history (2008, 2012, 2016). The arena has also hosted New York State Gubernatorial Debates. In addition, numerous high school championship events are held in the Mack Sports Complex.Â
