Douglas Dourado was named the Hofstra University Assistant Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach on March 30, 2017. He served in that capacity until becoming the volunteer assistant coach in August of that same year.
Dourado, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, rejoins the Hofstra Cross Country program after leading the Pride team as a runner in all five meets during the 2015 season. In his final meet as a Hofstra runner, he placed 88th in 32:21 in the 10K NCAA Division I Northeast Region Championship at Franklin Park in Boston. It was the third-best 10K time in school history.
Earlier that season, Dourado recorded the second-best 8K time in school history to place 12th and earned All-Colonial Athletic Association honors while leading the Pride team to a fourth-place finish at the 2015 CAA Championships in Charleston.
Dourado came to Hofstra in 2015 after earning three varsity letters in track and field and cross country and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami (FL). He competed in 13 cross country meets for the Hurricanes and received Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll accolades in 2011-12 and 2013-14.
Dourado, who is currently completing coursework for a master’s degree in sports science in May, 2017, has completed internships with COTY, Inc. in New York City in business development in 2015, Assurant, Inc. in Miami in data analysis in 2014 and with Venlaw, P.A. in Miami as a legal intern in 2013. He also has worked as an assistant manager at Commercial Dourado, Inc. in Sao Carlos, SP, Brazil in 2009.
