Masai, a senior from Eldoret, Kenya, kicked off the 2019 season with a win at the Stony Brook University Wolfie Invitational on September 7. He posted a time of 24:23 in the 8K race to top his nearest competitor by 14 seconds as well as the rest of the field of 62 runners.

Masai, the defending CAA Cross Country champion, captured the SBU Wolfie Invitational for the second consecutive year after winning the 2018 race with a time of 25:14. The first-place finish was also Masai’s third meet championship in four cross country events since his arrival at Hofstra in 2018.
