Amanda Monk joins the Hofstra University Department of Sports Medicine as the assistant athletic trainer beginning in July 2022.
Monk comes to Hofstra following a two-year stint as the certified intern athletic trainer at Binghamton University from August 2020 until July 2022. She acted as the primary athletic trainer for Binghamton’s cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field programs for pre-practice, post-practice, and meet-day timelines, as well as providing game day and practice coverage for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, women’s lacrosse, men’s tennis, softball, and wrestling at Binghamton.
Monk received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where she worked with the women’s gymnastics, men’s basketball, and football programs as part of her undergraduate clinical experience, in April 2020. She also worked for the Mt. Lebanon Senior High School and Junior High School as part of her undergraduate clinical experience in 2019.
Monk earned her master’s degree in exercise science and health information, with a dual concentration in sports psychology & nutrition, from California University of Pennsylvania in December 2021. She is EMT certified, and is a BOC and NYS licensed and certified athletic trainer. Monk is actively involved with the National Athletic Trainers Association, the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association, and the New York State Athletic Trainers Association.
