Hofstra Kicks Off CAA Slate Against Stony Brook; Series Held at Farmingdale State College

Hempstead, NY – The Coastal Athletic Association schedule begins for the Hofstra softball team when it takes on Stony Brook in a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 6.
 
Due to weather and construction at Bill Edwards Stadium, the game will be held at Farmingdale State College. First-pitch will be at 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday's first-pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. from FSC Softball Complex.

Hofstra enters conference play 3-10 following a 2-3 outing against Buffalo and James Madison at the Lakeside Book Company Invitational in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Nicole Cancel batted .462 for the series with six hits in 13 at-bats and recorded two home runs and four RBIs at the invitational. Gabby Sultan also recorded two home runs and five RBIs in five games. Alanna Morse is the Pride's leading hitter coming into the series with a .341 batting average and eight RBIs, followed by Cancel with a .333 average.
 
Stony Brook went 1-2 at the Norfolk/Hampton Battle at the Bay last week, putting the Seawolves and 1-12 on the season. Elena Gonzalez is the leading hitter for the Seawolves with a .353 batting average, while Rachael Brown leads the team with nine RBIs.
 
Hofstra is 24-14 all-time against Stony Brook. Hofstra went 2-2 against the Seawolves last season; Stony Brook went 2-1 in the regular season against Hofstra before the Pride eliminated the Seawolves in the CAA Championship.
