Hofstra Celebrates Excellence At Hall Of Fame Induction And Golf Outing

7/8/2025 12:59:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics held its 2025 Hall of Fame Induction and Golf Outing on June 9 at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor, New York. The event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the athletics program and all proceeds benefit the student-athlete experience at Hofstra as we "Build Champions In Academics, Athletics, Community, and Life". As always, it was a special day for Hofstra athletics with both the golf outing and the induction ceremony sold out.

Along with a great day of golf, the outstanding careers and accomplishments of Kimberly Hillier (women's lacrosse), Robert F. McKeon (extraordinary service to Hofstra athletics), Mike Miller (baseball), Michael Todd (men's soccer), Kelsie Wills (volleyball), and Colonel E. David Woycik, Jr. (extraordinary service to Hofstra athletics) were celebrated by inducting them into the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame in front of the standing room only audience.

"The Hofstra Athletics Golf Outing and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is always a day I look forward to," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "Getting to reconnect with alumni, friends, and supporters of our program on the golf course followed by recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of some very special people during the induction ceremony is just wonderful for everyone involved."

In addition to the Hall of Fame inductions and day of golf, the event also included raffle prizes, a silent auction, and golf competition awards. Pat Pio and Ava Sparacio won the long drive competition, while Chris Rojas (Hole 5), John Murer (Hole 8), Nester Lam (Hole 11), and Evelyn Sweeney (hole 14) won the closest to the pin competitions. The winning team was Jim Flowers, Pat Pio, Ava Sparacio, and Joe Sparacio
