Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics had seven programs honored with NCAA Public Recognition Awards, it was announced by the organization recently.

The Hofstra men's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, women's track & field, and volleyball squads all earned the recognition. All seven programs earned perfect scores of 1,000.

The NCAA Public Recognition Award goes to teams earning multi-year Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport.

"I could not be more proud of our incredible student-athletes, coaches, and staff for this tremendous accomplishment," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "Earning NCAA Public Recognition Awards across seven programs is a testament to the dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence that defines Hofstra Athletics. Our teams continue to shine both on the field and in the classroom, and this honor reflects the true spirit of what it means to be part of the Pride."

Hofstra, which had the second-most teams in the CAA to earn the honor, was also one of only three schools in the league to receive the award in men's basketball.

The Pride men's basketball program has had a perfect 1,000 APR score for five consecutive years and in six of the last seven years.

Four additional programs had scores over 990, including: women's soccer, wrestling, softball, and men's golf.
