Norfolk, VA - The Hofstra women's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over Norfolk State Monday morning after clinching the doubles point and with singles wins from
Kaitlyn Ferguson,
Sabira Mohamed, and
Mary Madigan. With the win, Hofstra moves to 5-7 overall, while Norfolk State drops to 1-7 with the loss.
Kaitlyn Ferguson's 7-6 (1), 2-6, 6-3 victory over Irina Lurea in the No. 2 singles spot clinched the victory for the Pride. Hofstra's Sabina Mohamed earned a 6-3, 7-6 (4) victory over Norfolk's Laura Ruiz, while
Mary Madigan bested Isabella Cottrell 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles, the Pride earned the doubles point from
Lea Forste-Dinell and
Ava Veneziano's 6-3 win and from
Kaitlyn Ferguson and
Sabira Mohamed's 6-1 defeat of Isabella Cottrell and Alessia Stom.Â
The Hofstra women's tennis team will be back in action on March 23 against William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.Â
