Gorchov Promoted To Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing and Communications

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. announced the promotion of Stephen Gorchov to the position of senior associate director of athletics for marketing and communications. In his new role, Gorchov will oversee the marketing efforts of the Hofstra Department of Athletics, while also maintaining oversight of the athletic communications office.

"Stephen is a valued member of the department and his efforts in leading our communications department have led to huge gains in our brand recognition." said Cole Jr. "With the partnership between communications and marketing growing stronger, having Stephen lead both areas was an easy decision. This is truly a well-earned promotion."

Having served as Hofstra's associate director of athletics for communications since 2009, Gorchov is in his 25th year as member of the athletic communications staff and serves as the sport contact for volleyball, men's basketball, men's lacrosse, and women's lacrosse.  He is also the spokesperson for the department of athletics and is the contact for all administrative related public relations matters. In addition, Gorchov oversees all social media platforms within the athletic department and manages GoHofstra.com (official website of Hofstra Athletics) and athletics-related Hofstra Sports Media (official streaming platform of Hofstra Athletics). He is also the team administrator for the men's golf program. 

The Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, native served as the Hofstra basketball team's head team manager under Butch van Breda Kolff and Jay Wright from 1992 through 1996, and volleyball team head manager in 1996 and 1997. After leaving Hofstra, Gorchov served as a marketing and ticket intern at Drexel University from December 1997 to June 1998. He returned to Hofstra in June 1998 and served as an administrative assistant to the Hofstra volleyball program before being named the assistant director of athletic communications in December of 1999.  

In 2005 he received the Media Information Award from Inside Lacrosse magazine and the College Volleyball Update 2005 RESPecting Volleyball Award, and is a two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association Grant Burger Media Award Winner for top SID in the region.  Gorchov has received numerous awards from CoSIDA, including having his office's 2012-13 men's basketball guide being chosen fourth-best nationally and the OAC's 2013 women's lacrosse guide being chosen second-best nationally.
