Hofstra Announces 2023-24 SAAC Executive Board

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, in partnership with the Hofstra Department of Athletics, is excited to announce its executive board for the 2023-24 academic year. The executive board was elected by the SAAC representatives following a self-nomination and presentation from each candidate. 
 
"I am extremely proud of these 10 student-athletes for taking on leadership roles within the Hofstra Student-Athlete Advisory Committee," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "The role that SAAC plays on the school, conference, and national levels is vastly important and I look forward to working with them on behalf of their fellow student-athletes. I would also like to thank the 2022-23 executive board and team representatives for their contributions this past year."

The 2023-24 Hofstra SAAC Executive Board is as follows:

President: Simran Desai, women's tennis
Vice President: Annabella Pisapia, softball
Secretary: Claire Galante, women's golf
Treasurer & Fundraising Coordinator: Jaxon Hummel, men's golf
Pride Cup Coordinators: Trinity Reed, women's lacrosse, and Leslie Villafuerte Castro, women's cross country and track
Community Service Coordinators: Clara Bal, volleyball, and Olivia Malinowski, softball
Equity & Wellness Coordinator: Bryce Washington, men's basketball
Media Relations Coordinator: Sorelle Ineza, women's basketball
 
The Hofstra SAAC Executive Board is responsible for setting all meeting agendas, as well as overseeing specific operations of SAAC including the Pride Cup competition, event coordination, and community outreach.
 
The role of SAAC on the campus of Hofstra University as well as within the Colonial Athletic Association is to: 

- Promote communication between athletic staff and student-athletes.
- Build a sense of community within the athletic program involving all athletics teams.
- Organize community service efforts.
- Create a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide committees.
- Promote a positive student-athlete image.
- Generate a student-athlete voice within the NCAA structure by recommending NCAA legislation and providing responses to proposed legislation.
- Review, react, and comment to the governance structure on NCAA activities and other subjects of interest.
- Participate in the administrative process of athletic programs and the NCAA.
