Hempstead, NY – Here is this week's edition of Hofstra Happenings, featuring the latest news in Pride Athletics. Hofstra would like to wish our fans and supporters the best for a Merry Christmas and joyous Holiday season. We would also like to congratulate all of the December 2013 graduates. Go Pride!

Men's Basketball Plays At Siena Tonight

The Pride is back in action tonight at 7 p.m. versus Siena. Links to game notes, live statistics and live audio are available here. Live video of the contest is available as well, for a fee, through Siena's web stream. Hofstra returns to action for the first time since December 15.

Women's Basketball Falls At Harvard

The Pride women's basketball team returned to action after a break for final exams and suffered a 60-41 loss at Harvard. The Pride, which held Harvard to its lowest point total of the season, was led by Annie Payton's 14 points. The Pride returns to action December 30 at Central Connecticut.

Wrestlers Ranked In National Polls

Five Hofstra Wrestlers – Luke Vaith, Joe Booth, Jamel Hudson, Jamie Franco and Cody Ruggirello (pictured) – remain ranked in national polls this week as the Pride prepare to resume action, following final exams, at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on January 1-2.

Preseason All-America Teams Announced In Lacrosse

Hofstra Women's Lacrosse junior defender April Iannetta was named a third team Preseason All-American and men's lacrosse junior goalie Chris Selva was named a preseason Honorable Mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse.

Soccer Teams Collect Academic Awards

Men's soccer senior midfielder Chris Griebsch collected a trio of academic awards last week as he was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America team and the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region team. He was also selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Women's soccer senior midfielder Tara Kerns and junior forward Sam Scolarici were named honorable mention Scholar All-East Region by the NSCAA. Both the men and women's teams garnered NSCAA recognition as 2012-13 College Team Academic Award recipients.
