KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) Association announced Monday that four Hofstra University women's soccer student-athletes earned All-East Region honors. Included in the bunch was junior midfielder
Lucy Porter, junior forward
Sabrina Bryan, sophomore forward
Miri Taylor and freshman defender,
Anja Suttner.
The four Hofstra honorees helped the Pride to its third-straight Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship and second-consecutive NCAA Division I Women's Soccer second round appearance.
Porter, the CAA Midfielder of the Year, earned first team accolades for the second-straight year after leading a high-powered Hofstra offense that ranked first in the CAA in every offensive category. She finished her junior campaign with a program-record 40 points via a conference-high 16 goals and eight assists. Porter also tied for a team and conference-high five game-winning goals.
Joining Porter on the first team was Bryan, the CAA Attacking Player of the Year, who earned a spot on the All-Region team for the second-straight season. Bryan tallied 32 points on the year which was second in the CAA from 11 goals and a CAA-high 10 assists. Bryan also added three game-winning goals for the Pride this year, including the overtime game-winner that propelled Hofstra to the second round of the NCAA Championship.
Taylor was named to the All-Region first team as a forward and is the only sophomore represented on the squad. She registered nine goals and nine assists this season for 27 points which ranked third in the CAA behind Porter and Bryan. Taylor also tied for a team-high five game-winning goals.
Suttner gathered second team honors after collecting two major awards from the CAA including Co-Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year accolades. Suttner, who rarely came off the pitch, led a Hofstra defense that posted a 1.36 goals against average while contributing to five total shutouts. In addition, Suttner recorded three goals and three assists for nine points while tallying one game-winning goal in the CAA Semifinal with that goal checking in as the game-winner.
Hofstra concluded the season with a 16-4-2 (.727) mark and 7-0-2 (.777) record in the CAA. To view all USC All-Region teams,
