Hempstead, NY – Following their stunning 10-5 victory over then fifth-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill last Saturday, the 12th-ranked Hofstra Pride Men's Lacrosse team opens their 2016 home schedule this Saturday, February 27 when they host the Princeton Tigers at James M. Shuart Stadium. Game time is 3 p.m.
The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse game against the Fairfield Stags will precede the men's game and start at noon.

Hofstra is coming off that dominating 10-5 victory over the Tar Heels last week in a game that surprised the lacrosse world and propelled the Pride into the Top 15 in all three major polls this week. Hofstra is now ranked 12th in the USILA/Nike Coaches Poll, 13th in the Cascade/Maverik Media Poll and 11th in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Poll.
Senior attackman
Sam Llinares, the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, recorded five goals against the Tar Heels and received Player of the Week recognition from the CAA, the USILA, Inside Lacrosse and Lacrosse Magazine. His five goals were one off his career-best set against Manhattan last season.
Junior newcomer
Josh Byrne, the 2015 NJCAA Attackman of the Year from nearby Nassau Community College, led the Pride with four goals and two assists. He opened the season with the first two Pride goals at UNC, added the first two of the second half l and assisted on two of Llinares' goals last Saturday. Sophomore

Jack Concannon, who played in four games and started two last season, recorded a career-high 11 saves last Saturday to record his first collegiate victory.
The Tigers of Princeton (1-0) are receiving votes in all three polls this week after posting a 21-4 victory over the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Princeton last Saturday. Junior midfielder Zack Currier recorded four goals and three assists against the NJIT Highlanders to lead the Tigers. Sophomore attackman Riley Thompson added three goals and two assists and senior Ryan Ambler notched two goals and three assists for Princeton. Three other players added two goals each and four Tiger goalies, led by sophomore Tyler Blaisdell who played 40 minutes and made three saves, held NJIT to four goals.
Saturday's contest will be the 30th meeting between the Pride and the Tigers with Princeton holding a 16-13 series advantage. The two teams last met in 2015, in the snow at Princeton, with the Tigers posting a 14-12 victory. Princeton has won the last four meetings with Hofstra since an 11-9 Pride win in Hempstead in 2011.
